Eden Mill St Andrews tour
Eden Mill – masters of Scottish gin innovation. Not content with simply producing great gin, they have branched out into seasonal special editions, pre-mixed cocktails and gin accessories.
So far on my gin journey, Eden Mill distillery is the biggest operation I have had the good fortune of visiting. Nestled away in Guardbridge in the former home of Haig Whisky and Curtis Fine Papers, this is Scotland’s first single-site distillery and brewery, making gin, whisky and beer.
As I am finding with most of the distilleries I visit, be it a tiny micro-distillery or an industrial-scale operation like this, the pure passion for the spirit they create here is evident.
The scale does nothing to diminish the craft nature of the brand, with the bottling of all Eden Mill done by hand on site. The impression I got was of one big family. This family focus is embodied in Botano. This is Eden Mill’s latest gin offering, and was developed to celebrate one of the distiller’s grandparents’ 60th wedding anniversary.
The core gins offered by Eden Mill: Original, Love, Golf, Oak and Hop represent an exciting and diverse array of flavours, instilled through a variety of imaginative botanicals. Their range gives a nod to romance, their beer brewing skills and, of course, their placement in the home of golf, St Andrews. There is definitely something here for every gin-lover’s palate. And it isn’t just the gin, each bottle is a thing of beauty in itself, something you’d be proud to pop on your gin shelf.
Apparently there are even more exciting new developments happening at Eden Mill, we can’t say much more now, but watch this space for more news!
There are daily gin distillery tours, from 11am. Find out more about them here.
