Gold medals for Shetland Distillery in China
The CWSA – China Wine and Spirits Awards is known as one of the most influential wine and spirits awards in the world. And Shetland Distillery Company is celebrating winning two golds, giving them the ultimate seal of approval in China.
China is one of the largest wine and spirits markets in the world and as Judges are exclusively selected from the most powerful buyers in China, the CWSA are credited with helping to sell a staggering 90 million bottles per year.
“China represents the fastest-growing market for wine on the planet and we predict China will become the world’s largest market for wines and spirits by 2021”, a CWSA Spokesman said. “To help international producers take advantage of this huge opportunity, CWSA brought together the 100 most influential wine and spirits buyers to Judge CWSA 2019.”
“We are thrilled that our two special edition gins ‘Filska’, (the Shetland dialect word for fun-loving which has pink grapefruit as a key botanical) and ‘Up Helly Aa 2019’ which is our cask-aged and navy strength gin performed so well at CWSA 2019” reported Debbie Strang, Co-owner and Director. “We export to a number of countries including Japan, and we are very excited by the growth we are seeing in China. We will be proudly displaying our CWSA Medals to showcase that Filska and Up Helly Aa 2019 are a Gold CWSA Best Value Medal Winner.”
“China is an extremely important growth market for us, as we negotiate to sell within China, or around the world to Chinese tourists. CWSA is recognised globally and this award will push us forward.”
